Morocco is a place with so much to see and do, and if you are not constrained by time, the train system is an ideal way to see the country. The train system in Morocco is not as extensive as in many other countries, however most major hubs and cities are connected by regular train service. The train system also provides a cost effective mode of transport, which is especially beneficial if you are traveling on a budget.
Casablanca Train Station
The train system in Morocco is operated by ONCF.
ONCF offers an information service via phone called Ketary which handles all train inquiries, including reservations, schedules, routes, stations and fares. This service is operated 7 days a week, and it is 2,88 Dh / min.

Morocco Train Fare Classes
When purchasing a train ticket in Morocco you should consider the class of ticket, which offer varying degrees of comfort and affordability.
Couchette: This is the most expensive ticket, however is also provides travelers with the most comfortable ride. Couchette cabins are typically air conditioned and offer convenient sleeper accommodation. Couchette is particularly recommended if travelling long distances or on over night journey.
First Class: This is the recommended way to travel on shorter trips. The seating is comfortable and pre-assigned, and the carriages are air conditioned.
Second Class: This is the standard ticket, and offered on a first come first serve basis. Due to this passengers may be limited in terms of seating.

Morocco Major Train Stations
Casa Voyageur (Casablanca Train Station)
Open 7 days a week, Casa Voyageur links to all major stations throughout Morocco. As a central hub, the station conveniently offers a tourist information center, cafeteria, ATMs, news stands, mosque and on-site parking.
Local buses regularly connect to and from Casa Voyageur, with small taxis available at all hours. The station also offers train connection to Mohammed V Airport every hour.
Located in the heart of Belle Veders (Avenue Bahmad, Place De La Gare) Casa voyageur is surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops and hotels which offer rest stops for the weary traveler. Ibis Moussafir Casa Voyageurs hotel is also conveniently located next door to the station.
Casablanca also has several other train stations including CasaPort and Casa Oasis. These are much smaller stations than Casa Voyageur and typically service small, local towns.
Rabat Ville (Rabat train station)
Rabat Ville is conveniently located in the heart of Rabat (Avenue Mohammed V.). Open 7 days a week, it offers frequent connections to major stations in Morocco. The station offers a tourist information center, cafeteria, ATM’s, news stands, mosque and convenient parking.
Due to the central location, the station is surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops and hotels. As at most train stations, it is easy to access local transportation with buses connecting to the station and small taxis available all hours.
Rabat has a second train station, Rabat Agdar which is smaller than the main Rabat Ville station.
Marrakesh Train Station
Marrakesh is conveniently located in the center of the city (Avenue Hassan II), and offers frequent connections to major stations in Morocco. The station offers many amenities such as shops, restaurants, ATM’s, an information center, news stands, a mosque and parking. If you have some time to spare before your train connection, the station is surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops and hotels.
Local buses and small taxis are conveniently located outside the train station and available at all hours.
Marrakesh is the last train stop in southern part of Morocco.
Tanger Ville (Tangier train station)
The Tanger Ville station was opened in 2003, and it has maintained its new station feel. It offers trains every two hours, connecting passengers hailing from multiple European destinations with major Moroccan stations. It takes about 10 min by taxi from Tangier port to the train station, and there is also a convenient bus shuttle that connects port to the train. As with most Moroccan train stations, Tanger Ville conveniently houses an information center, cafeteria, ATM’s, news stands, a mosque and local parking.
Tangier train station is centrally located in the city of Tangier, and is surrounded by restaurants, coffee shops and hotels.
Travel Tip: When traveling overnight by train between Tangier and Marrakesh it is advisable to buy ‘Couchette’ fare instead of first class. This will get you a sleeper fare reservation, which makes an overnight trip much more comfortable.
There is always at least one night departure between Marrakesh and Tangier for a cost of 350 DH, with departures usually around 21.00 pm.
Schedules (French)
Several major Moroccan cities and towns do not have train stations (such as Agadir, Taroudant, Essaouira, Tiznit, Ouarzazate, Dakhla, Tetouan), however ONCF have an agreement with SUPRATOURS (a local bus company) to pick up and transport passengers from major train stations and connect them to their final destination.
As Marrakesh is the last southern city serviced by ONCF train service, passengers can connect via Supratours to other southern destinations*. The tickets for these connections can be purchased at the initial train station.
Traveling from the northern regions toward Assilah by train, you can connect via Supratours to Tetouan.
